MAXIMALIST, EXCESSIVE, BRAZEN – MÅNESKIN ARE THE EMBODIMENT OF A COSMOPOLITAN, GENDERFLUID GENERATION THAT IS READY TO APPROPRIATE ITS OWN SPACES AND ISN’T WILLING TO COMPROMISE.

From busking in the streets in the center of Rome to opening for the Rolling Stones at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Måneskin’s story is one of perseverance and success. Written by Guia Cortassa, who personally followed Måneskin during X Factor for Rolling Stone magazine, this book retraces the main stages of the Roman band’s history, sketching their biography and focusing on some of the most important moments in their artistic career, which have led them to the top of the charts all across the globe.
Guia Cortassa, born in Milan in 1982, is a writer, translator, and editor. She writes about music, literature and traveling, mainly for international periodicals. She has written for Atlas Obscura, Mousse Magazine, Rolling Stone, Crack Magazine, The Quietus, Loud and Quiet, the Rumpus, Flash Art, the Intentional, Ondarock, Linus, Flair, Rivista Studio, and Prismo. For Storielibere, together with Giulio D’Antona, she wrote and hosted the podcast Un’estate fa… (One Summer Ago…) on the cultural changes brought about by music. As an editor she has worked for several publishing houses and periodicals specialized in contemporary art. She is a speaker on Radio Raheem, mainly on the subjects of theater and music. She has translated several English-speaking writers, among whom the American essayist Annie Dillard.
Sara Rotlich (nom de plume of Sara Notarpietro, born in Soave in 1999) is an illustrator who grew up and studied in Milan. She loves working with digital media, but her work preserves the tangible grace of a hand-drawn creation. Her style is a unique cultural tangle, influenced by manga and western pop culture. She loves rock music and admires Måneskin’s energy and charisma, which is capable of motivating other young people such as themselves, “though they’re barely twenty and will have to run,” to put it in the band’s own words!
